In 2005, I read a book titled, Twilight. How a girl meets and falls in love with a vampire. Being around 8 years old at the time, of course, I wished this was real and I was in Bella shoes. Now being 23, my whole outlook on twilight has changed. Yes. I still love the movies, but sometimes I can't help but to laugh at some of the cringy things that happened in the films. And with a supposed new book coming out soon, it's time to catch up. So, join me as I rant, rave, review, and summarize Twilight! SPOILER WARNING

Meet Bella

The movie begins with a deer being chased and attacked by a "human" and then cuts to 17 year old Bella saying bye to her mom, who decides to up and leave her daughter behind to follow her new husband and his baseball career. Bella goes to live with her dad, whom she calls Charlie, in a small town named Forks. They don't have much of a relationship because the first thing he said was" Your hair is longer." She replied, " I cut it since the last time I seen you." They arrived at their house, a nice, two-story home, where she just had to note, "Oh right, one bathroom." What!? How ungrateful! I would've sent her back home that second. The scenes moves onto Bella meeting a childhood friend, Jacob, to being gifted a truck that was once Jacob's dad's. Has anyone noticed how gray the movie is?

Anyways, let's get to the good stuff. Bella has her first day of school. Some guy sarcastically compliments Bella's car. As Bella enters the building and walks down the hall, people are staring at her, as if everyone there knows every one and they can just tell that she's a new student. And even if she is a new student, why stare anyways? She begins meeting some students, who already knows who she is. Fast forward to lunch, the same guy who gave Bella a backhanded compliment about her car kisses her on her cheek, assault. Apparently, she's the "shiny new toy" and a few of the guys like her.

In walks the Cullen's, introduced as foster kids from Alaska. They each get their own introductions and slow-motion walkthroughs. But of course, Edward is saved for last. Bella and Edward face off in a weird staring competition and then the next scene begins with Bella going to class.

Bella Meets Edward

Bella goes to class and stands completely in front of the fan. I know from experience that if it's a hot day and someone stands in front of the fan, people are going to be angry. But not in Edwards case, for Edward the fan giving off Bella's scent made him look as if he was going to vomit. Bella walks up to the desk, sitting next to Edward of course. Edward's hand still covering his nose. Did she smell that bad Edward? What happened to being subtle about it? It's almost like he wanted her to know, "Hey you stink." As class continues, Bella and Edward are giving each other another weird, but the most intense stares I've ever seen.

Class ends and Bella sees Edward in the school's office trying to change his class. Unable to do so, of course, Edward now has to "endure" whatever putrid smell Bella is giving off. A week goes by and no Edward. This leaves Bella curious, wondering where he is. I don't know why after that first encounter they had but, hey. After that week, Edward returns; smiling, happy, and full of conversation. Class ends and Bella is nearly crushed by a car, and what a coincidence because gladly Edward saves the day by moving 30 ft in a half of second, which no one notices but Bella. Bella is sent to the hospital to be checked by non-other than a Cullen, Dr. Cullen, Edward's "dad." Bella overhears the Cullen's having a conversation about Edward saving Bella and how it can be jeopardizing for them. Bella questions Edwards about his speed which he says was "adrenaline" and they begin to have somewhat of a "friendship."

La Push Beach

Bella and her friends go to La Push beach, where she runs into Jacob. He tells her a story about how "The Cullen's don't come here" and "The cold ones". Basically, Jacob tells his secret family story about his tribe being descendants from wolves and how the Cullen's are an enemy clan.

The movie shifts to a small clip of three "humans" who attacks a man on a boat. One of them says "Let's not play with our food." OMG wait, are these "the cold ones" Jacob was talking about?

We then Fast forward to Bella on the internet, googling this story just to find a book containing this information, instead of using the internet to just find the information itself. But hey, maybe she's more of a book girl. We also learn that during sunny days, the Cullen's are never around. Hm? I wonder why?

Bella goes to buy the book and later returns home to google the information in the book (sigh). She googles "cold one" and her answer pops right up. I searched cold one and a song by Eric Church popped up. I'm listening to it right now...catchy.

Does Bella Know?

Bella and Edward arrive at school and instead of going to class, Bella goes into the woods and Edward so happens to know that she wants him to follow. If I saw two people just walking into the woods I would be concerned. Also, why is there school near the woods?

Bella goes down the list of things she noticed about Edward. Things such as, he doesn't eat or drink, doesn't go out into the sun, he's pale white and ice cold. Honestly, it seems like he needs to see a doctor. Edward cuts her off and says "Just say it." Bella refuses to say. After stressing all of this time to figure it out, she just can't say it. Edward pulls her by her arm, dragging her through the forest after just literally hinting that he possibly eats/drinks something that is dangerous to her. But Bella assures Edward that he wouldn't hurt her.

He puts her on his back and runs into the forest. In this dark, gloomy, foggy forest, which just so happens to have a small patch of bright light. He stands in the front of the light. And I don't know about you all, but I was expecting to see something scary like, scars, fangs, anything, but no. He stands in the Sun and he shines, as if he was tossed into a tub full of glitter. As if he bought every highlight out of the MAC store and brushed it on. Edward was expecting Bella to run to the hills, screaming at the sight of his horridness. But instead, Bella says, "You're beautiful." Again, I don't know about you all but, if I was Edward I would be offended. I'm a vampire! I'm not supposed to be beautiful. And for some people, they may have saw his diamond encrusted chest, and thought "ohh, he got money."But since of course, this is a love story and not horror or a reality show so, I understand.

Edward then jumps from tree to tree in disgust from Bella's "you're beautiful" response and calls himself a killer and how no one would be able to fight him off. Where was this energy at when Bella was almost attacked by a group of men at the beginning of the movie Edward? Edward then goes on to tell Bella that he wanted to kill her. Bella says, "I'm here, I trust you." What!? Really Bella? Well after all of that, which is probably the most they ever talked to each other in the whole movie, they then decided to lay in the grass and stare each other. I guess all of that talking wore them out.

Bella and Edward Are Dating

Bella and Edward are seen with his arm around her, walking into the school parking lot together; to the rest of the Cullen's dismay of course. I wonder how many classes they have or where are the school security staff because Bella and Edward ends up in the woods, again! This time, Edward shares his back story on how he became a vampire and how they no longer kill humans, instead they eat animals.

After school Edward drops by, no literally, dropping down onto Bella's car just to invite her to meet his family. He leaves as Jacob and his dad arrives, giving off another intense stare. I wonder if Robert Pattinson, Edward, practiced these stares in the mirror.

Fast forward to Bella meeting Edwards family, who were scrambling in the kitchen trying to learn how to feed a human. Edward takes Bella on a tour of his room. There she asks, "no bed?" Wow. Where is your mind at Bella?

I hope you're ready for another scene in the forest. Bella climbs onto Edwards back as he states, "Hold on tight spider monkey." I cringe at this line every time. I'm sure Robert does too. They climb a tree and stand there talking for probably hours. How romantic, right? Other than the leaves slapping you in the face, the bugs, and being I don't even know how many feet off the ground. Everything they talked about could've been said at floor level, but then it wouldn't have been as romantic would it.

Fast forwarding again, to what? The Woods! The Cullen's are seen playing baseball until Alice, a Cullen sister who can see the future, but didn't see that these people were going to show up until they actually showed up. They turned out to be the three vampires who killed a guy earlier in the film. After walking through the mist that only surrounded them. The vampires state that they are only passing through, but then asked if they could play one game. As everything seemed to be going fine, of course a gust of wind flows through and only through Bella's hair, leaving the vampires ready to attack. The vampires back off but one of them, James, couldn't let the thought of Bella go.

Will Bella Survive?

Edward whisks Bella away to protect her, informing Bella that James loves the chasing game and won't stop until he finds her. Bella insists on going back to protect her dad and the only way in doing that is to hurt him. I think this could've been done a simpler way like, "dad, I'm going to go visit mom." But no, she says something along the lines of "not wanting to be stuck in Forks like mom." Leaving Charlie, distraught, after there relationship seemed to be getting better.

The Cullen's take Bella far from home and she seemed safe. Until she got a phone call from James who somehow got her phone number. He played her sounds of her mother voice, calling for Bella. Bella quickly left on her own, to go save her mother. Why not tell the Cullen's? Why go somewhere all alone to fight off a vampire? A creature who, Edward just told you is the deadliest of all creatures. She meets James at the Ballet studio, and she sees the sound of her mother was just an old recording. James walks in basically mocking her because catching her was way too easy. Bella goes on to say, "She's not even here." Duh Bella! Then she sprays mase. Mase! Which only makes him mad and throws her against a mirror causing her to bleed.

He's recording everything on a camcorder like a psychopath. But how come the blood doesn't make him go crazy and just kill her already? When he smelled her hair in the forest, he went nuts. But blood? He does nothing. I guess Bella really does smell.

Edward appears. How does he know where they're at? I don't know. But he and the Cullen's fight James off, eventually killing him. While an injured Bella is on the ground with a vampire bite quickly injecting the venom into her body. The only one who can save her, not Dr. Cullen, who is.. a doctor, the oldest, and most experienced with human blood, but Edward. Edward has to make the choice of sucking out the venom with his mouth or letting her become a vampire. Edward grabs her arm and begins to suck. I wish there was a better way to say that. He fights hard not to take too much blood and kill her but her future is unknown as the screen went into a flashback of the two's journey and for some reason a deer was included.

Bella's Future

Bella wakes up in a hospital. According to her mom, who has return, she fell down two flights of stairs, went through a window, broke her leg, and lost a lot of blood. Wow! And we're just going to ignore the human bite mark on her arm. Bella goes on to say, she wants to live in Forks and that she needs to apologize to her dad, Charlie.

Edward "awakes" to tell Bella that Victoria, one of the three vampires and James girlfriend, ran off and can't be found. Is that a good thing or bad thing? He continues by saying that Bella needs to go to Jacksonville with her mother to be safe. Bella became the loudest she's ever been in whole the movie stating, "No, I can't leave you", "You can't leave me", "Never say that to me again." I guess Edward saw she was going kind of crazy. So he quickly changed his mind and said, "I'm here."

Bella is now out of the hospital with a cast on her foot walking down the stairs to meet Edward and her dad, as Edward is taking her to prom. As Bella steps out of the car, she is approach by Jacob, who is coming out of the what? The woods. He tells Bella that his dad wants her to break up with Edward and that he'll be watching her. Now, if I was told this I would be scared, I would think Jacob's dad is a creep, and I would go tell my dad. But Bella laughs it off and says thanks. Ewards comes backs and says, "I leave you alone for two minutes and the wolves descend. Hmm. I wonder what does that mean.

Bella and Edward goes out back to this perfectly lit area and they dance together. The people who were there before them left as soon as they arrived. Must be Bella's scent again. The two danced and Bella asks why Edward didn't let her turn into a vampire she goes on to say, "I'm dying always, every second." Edward leans her forward as if he was going to bite her neck, only to kiss her. He basically asks, "Are you not happy" and she says, "For now." What a bummer conversation to have at prom. The movie ends with a kiss and the two continuing to dance as an angry Victoria watches over them.

My Views

Overall, the movie is great. I still love it as much as I did when it first premiered, I just see it differently, from 8 year old eyes to now. There a lot of cringy parts and funny parts that probably weren't meant to be funny, but I can't help but to love to movie. It is definitely one of my favorites and I can't wait to review the sequels. So, hold on tight spider monkeys. Twilight: New Moon is on the way.

Hope you all are staying safe! Wherever you are, good morning, good afternoon, good evening, and have a good night! I'll be back to talk "S" word with you all later!
