Attack of the Spam: What Happens When you Answer Scam Likely Calls and Emails.

I don't about you all but a few months ago I was getting scam likely calls every day. Since quarantine has giving people a lot of time on their hands, it seems like the thirst got even realer for these people because now they are attacking me in the most realistic ways.

We all know the usual scam calls; the "Your bill is due." "Get car insurance." and etc. Which eventually leads to, "What's your Social Security number?" When we get these calls, we don't answer or we hang up; right? So what about for emails? This past week I received 3 emails that I figured was scam but was excited to answer each one.

1st Email

The first email I received was on LinkedIn. A 'professional' website where people go to connect with other professionals, find jobs and other things. The email consisted of, "We have a job that fits your background (recent grad). No background experience needed." That was all I needed to see. I immediately clicked 'Yes. I would like more information on this job." Mind you, I was half asleep when I looked and accepted this email. After realization, I quickly woke up and realized I was getting scammed. I reread the email which had little to no information on the job and started out with "I was reaching out because." I immediately got scared. I thought "OMG, they have my information." I began googling and all I found was that by clicking the more info button, they would have access to my contact number and email to basically try to actually scam me. I guess the first email was just the introduction to the scamming. So, I quickly blocked them, and hopefully that solved that problem. What did I learn? Don't answer emails half sleep! and Block them! Also, pay attention how professional or unprofessional the emails sound. This is a big exmaple of an unprofessional email, that a job recruiter would never send to you.

2nd email

This email made me happy and annoyed within 10 minutes. This email was someone complimenting my pictures on Instagram and they asked if they could share by pictures on their page to their "100k followers" and "doing so will help me gain more followers. My first thought was, "My blog pictures aren't even that great yet." Also having someone share someone else's pictures on their page didn't really make sense to me. So I decided to do research since I recently was fooled once, I didn't want to be fooled twice. I looked up their name, on Instagram and it was a real page. I began searching online for the same exact email that was sent to me. I noticed that people were stating, "Beware!" and "Scam". I kept digging and found out that the real site email did not match the email I received, so I immediately deleted that email. What did I learn? Do your research! Also, don't let scam get you upset or annoyed because you thought you were going to gain a opportunity. Keep working hard, there are many other amazing opportunities out there!

3rd email

This email really got me because it's a big deal to me and stresses me out on a daily. I get emails like this all the time, but for some reason, this time scared me. It was the, "It's time to pay your loans" email.

With quarantine happening, and interviews being put on hold, that last thing I want to hear about is student loans. So honestly, I ignored that email with the quickness. Even though it turned out to be fake, I wasn't going to let it ruin my day. What did I learn? It's time to learn about loans, interest rates, and everything else that has to do with loans and money because the fact that I don't know much about it, is what scares me the most.

Yes, these emails are very annoying. They're coming at me from every different angle, from jobs that I NEED, to promotions for my new blog that of course I WOULD WANT, to student loans LOL (no seriously, pay your loans). Overall, I try to see how I can turn that annoyance into a learning experience. Do your research! Pay attention to grammar and typos! Block them! Don't stress!

Hope you all are staying safe! Wherever you are, good morning, good afternoon, good evening, and have a good night! I'll be back to talk "S" word with you all later!
