I Got Accepted to Harvard! Eh, Not Really.

I finally enrolled in some free online classes and although I said they were FREE, I am currently getting a bunch of calls being told congratulations. Thanks for telling everyone grandma.
Like I said in my previous posts, I decided to use this quarantine to help me work on myself as a person. After a lot of thought and a lot of procastination, I finally decided to enroll into some free online classes. If you've never heard of this opportunity, I will leave links to the two websites and classes I enrolled into. In the end of each class you have the opportunity to get a certificate stating that you have passed the course. Some of the certificates are free and others cost. Overall, they are a great way to build your resume, grow your skills, and would be a good thing to bring up in interviews. If you tell a hiring manager, "During my time in quarantine/lockdown, I decided to grow my skills and learn new things, here are my cetificates." It can set you apart from others during the interview stage. I think it'll definitly be a good look and show that you're hard working, deidcated, motivated, and interested in learning.
The Classes I am Taking
I've only been blogging for only a few days but I have really found a love for it. Designing the website, thinking and planning new content, posting, promoting the blog, and seeing people show interest in it. With that being said, I decided to take courses in marketing, business, and communications. The first class I enrolled into is called Marketing Analytics, where I will be learning about the marketing strategy and how businesses like Netflix, Airbnb and IBM market their business. I took my first quiz today, and got a 100%.
If I enjoy these classes, who knows what my next steps may be. Maybe grad school, an internship, a career, or creating my own business. The opportunities are endless. They are endless because I am making it a mission to find my passions and work towards them and you can too!
So other than the classes I enrolled in, let me tell you what else I did today and how YOU can do it too! I RSVP'd to a "Wonsulting Speaker Series: Networking, Personal Branding, & Recruiting." Here they will have professionals, people from LinkedIn, Google, Robinhood, and many other places will be speaking about their careers and how they got to where they are today. Check out the link below and RSVP today! Today, I also signed up to a few virtual volunteer opportunities on volunteermatch. My focus is on marketing right now, but their website offers a variety of different volunteer opportunites. They can build your resume or just give you something to do. For example, you can make face masks for people in need of them while we are going through this pandemic or you can do something pertaining to your career. So give it a try!
